A Day On Anthem Of The Seas
At the beginning of July, Anthem of the Seas began her UK voyages and Simone Clark, Senior Vice President of Global Supply, was lucky enough to be onboard for her first cruise in 18 months. From what happens when you arrive at the cruise terminal to how you can spend your time onboard, keep reading to find out what a day on Anthem of the Seas is really like.
Before The Cruise
A few days before the cruise I downloaded the Royal Caribbean app, which is full of information and really adds to your experience onboard as you can use it to check the daily agenda, book restaurants and check your account, amongst many other things.
I arrived at the port with a negative PCR test result and with the NHS App which showed my vaccination status. Under 18s are given a rapid antigen test at the cruise terminal, which, just like the PCR test, is complimentary. There was also a health questionnaire to fill out 24 hours before travel which could be done on the Royal Caribbean app. It was a really quick process and there were plenty of people on hand to help you every step of the way.
Health and Safety
There were under 1000 guests on Anthem of the Seas, which meant plenty of space for everyone. Seats in the theatre and restaurants can be pre-booked using the app to enable social distancing and masks have to be worn when moving around indoors.
When it comes to dining, there is a maximum of 6 guests per table from different households and you can now scan a QR code to get menus. The Windjammer restaurant offers the same impressive selection of dishes that we all love, but the food is served from behind screens by the crew.
The ship is spotlessly clean and there is sanitizer and places to wash your hands everywhere. My favourite change is the new safety drill. You simply watch the videos on the app and then go down to your muster station to get a sticker added to your key card to show you attended. Much better than piling down to your station with crowds of people, and much quicker too!
What To Do On Anthem Of The Seas
Anthem of the Seas has always been a favourite with our guests, and all the facilities were open with plenty to do. I only had one full day onboard, but still managed to enjoy a gym session, bumper cars, music quiz, pub lunch, zumba class, a full We Will Rock you musical and then a gourmet dinner at Chops Grille. This was followed by cocktails, an 80’s band in the Music Hall and a trip to the casino. I fit in more things in a day than I've done in the past 3 months!
Anthem of the Seas' Grand Loft Suite
I was fortunate enough to stay in a Grand Loft Suite on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Sea, and it was spectacular! There are 2 different configurations, and mine was a corner suite on deck 10 spread over 2 decks at the aft of the ship. Downstairs was a living/dining room and 2 balconies, a larger one at the aft and a smaller one with a swinging chair which was perfect for reading with ocean views. There was also a shower room and wardrobe downstairs so it could be transformed into a bedroom at night if you have family or friends travelling with you. Upstairs was a mezzanine bedroom with a dressing area and large shower room and a further balcony. The whole suite had a floor-to-ceiling glass wall with views across the ocean so you really feel close to the sea!
There are lots of amenities in the suite, including designer toiletries, a coffee machine and bottled/canned water. You also have your own dedicated restaurant, Coastal Kitchen, which is located right next to the Windjammer buffet and is open for all meals, offering a variety of delicious food in a relaxed setting. You can find out more the exclusive Royal suite by reading our Royal Caribbean cabin information page.
