With the upgrade, you can enjoy a good selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks in the onboard bars and restaurants. A flexible option, this popular upgrade is ideal if you’re looking to enjoy your favourite tipple throughout the day without having to reach for your wallet.

What’s Included in Fred. Olsen’s Drinks Package Upgrade?

Regardless of if you’re looking for alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, the drinks package upgrade offers something for everyone. It's a great way of easily budgeting for one of the extra charges on a cruise ship you need to know about, too.

With Fred. Olsen’s drinks package upgrade, you can enjoy the following throughout your cruise:

A selection of beers, lagers and cider (both draught and canned)
A range of house spirits (such as vodka, white rum and gin in a 25ml serving)
A variety of house wines by the glass (175ml serving)
An array of cocktails and mocktails
Spring water (served by the glass)
A selection of soft drinks and juices
50% off selected premium and branded drinks*

However, the following is not included in the drinks package upgrade:

Champagne
Premium wines (red, white, rose, dessert or sparkling wines)
Premium cocktails
Bottled water
Room service drinks
Mini-bar drinks
Teas and coffees in The Bookmark Café
Drinks ordered via cabin shopping or duty free
Any drinks taken onshore

*Drinks on wine/bar lists, wines purchased in the buffet/restaurant (excluding dessert wines, Champagne and prosecco), mocktails, cocktails and bottled water.

How Do You Book a Fred. Olsen Drinks Package?

If you want to purchase the drinks package, you can do this prior to your cruise or onboard. To book it ahead of your cruise, you can do this via the Reservations Team, online when you are booking your cruise or up to six days prior embarkation by contacting the Guest Services Team.

Alternatively, you can choose to upgrade to the drinks package onboard. To add this, you’ll need to head over to Guest Services. You’ll have until the end of the second day of your cruise to purchase it.

Does Every Guest in Your Party Require a Drinks Package?

All guests on your booking require a drinks package, other than children/teens (terms and conditions apply).

Where Can You Use The Fred. Olsen Drinks Package Upgrade?

Fred. Olsen’s drinks package can be used in restaurants and in the onboard bars. However, the selection does vary between the two.

In the restaurants, you can choose from:

A variety of soft drinks, juices and spring water (by the glass)
A selection of rose, white, sparkling, red and non-alcoholic wines (by the glass)
A range of branded beers (bottles and cans)

In the bars, you can choose from:

A variety of soft drinks, juices and spring water (by the glass)
A range of branded beers and ciders
Select cocktails
Mocktails
A selection of house spirits
A selection of rose, white, sparkling, red and non-alcoholic wines (by the glass)

How much is Fred. Olsen’s drinks package upgrade?

The drinks package on Fred. Olsen starts at £24.99 per person, per night or £35 per person per night (for cruises of five nights or less) when booked ahead of time. If you book onboard, it will be £34.99 per person per night (for cruises of six nights or more) or £45 per person per night for cruises that are five nights or less.

The drinks package is not available to book onboard for cruises of 1-4 nights.

Fred Olsen's Drinks Offerings from 1st January 2026

If you book onto the Freedom Fare and are travelling from January 2026 onwards, you'll have a choice of selected house beer, wine and soft drinks included with lunch and dinner meals in selected restaurants onboard. Inclusive drinks are not available in The Poolside on Bolette and Borealis, snack venues, afternoon tea or the supper club, however.

In 2026, Fred. Olsen will also be launching a new Premium Drinks Package with a wide selection of drinks available. This will replace the current Drinks Package upgrade, which will be discontinued at the end of 2025. For all sailings departing before 22nd December 2025, the current drinks package above will still be available.

The Premium Drinks Package will have the following included from January 2026:

Soft drinks & juices
A selection of premium red, white, rose & non-alcoholic wines by the glass
Cocktail & signature cocktail ranges
Branded spirits, including rum, gin, vodka, whisky, brandy & Irish cream
Branded beers and ciders (bottles, cans & draught)
25% off all wines by the bottle
25% off fine whisky & cognac
10% off sparkling & dessert wines

However, some exclusions will apply, including:

750ml glass bottles of mineral water
Red Bull
Speciality coffee and drinks from the Bookmark Cafe & Oriental Tea Room
Bottles of wine
Sparkling and dessert wine
Speciality whisky and cognac

Pricing will be as follows for the Premium Drinks Package for 2026 sailings:

1-5 nights

Advance Purchase Cost: £44 per person, per night
On-Board Purchase Cost: £48 per person, per night

6-27 nights

Advance Purchase Cost: £40 per person, per night
On-Board Purchase Cost: £44 per person, per night

28-69 nights

Advance Purchase Cost: £36 per person, per night
On-Board Purchase Cost: £40 per person, per night

70+ nights

Advance Purchase Cost: £32 per person, per night
On-Board Purchase Cost: £36 per person, per night

Guests can enjoy up to 15 alcoholic drinks per day. There is no limit to the number of soft drinks. To qualify for the Advance Purchase Cost, the drinks package must be added to the booking at least six days before departure. Those booked under a concession, or as a prize winner, will be charged the on board price. Once the cruise has commenced, the package cannot be cancelled and is non-refundable.
