A Visit Full Of Brilliance!
Updated May 2019
After completing a three week dry dock period in Cadiz, Spain for its multi-million dollar ‘Royal Advantage’ upgrade, Royal Caribbean's popular Radiance Class Ship, Brilliance of the Seas arrived at the small coastal town of Harwich in Essex. A few lucky Iglu Cruise team members were invited to check it out.
Brilliance of the Seas was built back in 2002 as the second ship in the Radiance Class for Royal Caribbean, and since then it has seen a number of refurbishments and improvements. This 90,090 tonne ship can hold more than 2,500 guests and is a very popular member of the fleet.
Wow from the first step…
When first stepping onboard, everyone in the group stood there and said ‘wow’. Upon entering you step straight into the magnificent five-story high centrum, which is filled with lights, colours, and beautiful little details. This area hosts world class aerial performances, as well as other shows throughout each cruise. In addition to this, it boasts the R Bar which is a '60s inspired venue offering some delicious cocktails. The vibrant ambience here really sets the mark as the heart of the ship.
Brilliant features just kept popping out…
One of the main purposes of this revitalisation was to add various dining venues. These include Park Café, Izumi, Chef's Table, and Giovanni’s Table. Each of these restaurants offered samples of their cuisine during the visit, so you can imagine our delight at trying a whole range of tasty international foods - all our favourites were covered.
Giovanni’s Table is Royal Caribbean’s Italian speciality restaurant, and on Brilliance of the Seas the venue is situated at the side of the ship, and boasts large windows overlooking the water. This helps to create the perfect atmosphere for a romantice evening with a view; perfec.
The English pub is another popular venue, offering a fantastic informal venue ideal for drinking with friends and watching live entertainment.
Another area that really impressed us was the Royal Babies and Tots Nursery. This area caters for babies from six months to three years, and offers a fully equipped exciting space where parents can leave their children with qualified minders.
More features that really give this ship the edge are the outdoor movie screen, beautiful stateroom decor, the ship-wide WiFi, and a new Concierge and Diamond Lounge. Plus one more particularly helpful aspect is the addition of interactive way-finders in many locations. These are basically large touch-screen TVs where guests can put in their room number or a location, and the computer will tell them how to get there - as well as any events or shows are currently going on.
Time to go…
After a day on Brilliance of the Seas exploring everything the ship has to offer, the team felt sure that any cruise guest would leave impressed. With dining options and activties to suit all tastes, as well as comfortable and considerably spacious cabins, a holiday onboard this Royal Caribbean ship will leave passengers delighted and well-rested.
