Celebrity Short Break and a Manicure
My mum and her husband returned from Celebrity Eclipse this week. They like to go on short break cruises to get away from it all and I recommended this cruise, as they love Cunard, so knew they'd really enjoy the Solistice class ships. They absolutely loved it and want to book again next year for a week. The highlight for them was the sensational food in the speciality restaurant, Murano; they enjoyed venison and exquisite lobster with bacon (a dish they are going to attempt to recreate at home this weekend!). On a week's cruise, they intend to eat in the restaurant three times (to pace themselves) and really think that Murano's deserves a Michelin star. Other highlights for them were the great service and extras in concierge class and the superb shows.
Nail bars and eyebrow bars seem to be popping up everywhere lately - I walk past four just on my way to work! They are so convenient, it made me wonder why they don't bring them onto cruise ships as a quicker and perhaps cheaper version of the spas. If like me, you don't have a steady hand, it would be great to have a quick manicure or polish ready for the evening ahead. Even better would be out on deck with a cocktail or glass of bubbly included!
There's still huge demand for holidays on cruises departing from the UK, as people look to avoid flying - over 90% of our enquiries coming in are currently for cruises from the UK ports. I'm flying to New York (hopefully) next week and with the ash cloud back in the headlines it's becoming quite a concern - so I fully appreciate why people are sticking to no-fly holidays at the moment!
