My Day Onboard Crown Princess
Updated May 2019
A few lucky members of our Iglu team have been treated to a day onboard Crown Princess, hosted by the marketing team at Princess Cruises. A tour of the ship and a four course lunch were on the agenda, and a presentation to help us get to know more about this premium cruise brand.
The day started with everyone meeting at Southampton cruise terminal where we were met by the friendly Princess team. We were then treated to a morning coffee and a little live music in the atrium, before continuing on for an extensive ship tour.
Life Onboard Crown Princess
To give an idea of what Princess is about, it's helpful to compare their style to that of other cruise lines. The Grand Class ships are similar to P&O Cruises' Azura and Ventura in size, standards, and layout. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is more akin to Celebrity Cruises than the often compared Royal Caribbean.
Our tour of the ship included each type of cabin, the restaurants, lounges, gym, spa, pools and the well-loved Sanctuary. Located toward the rear of the ship, The Sanctuary is simply fabulous. If you need somewhere to unwind, or are on a romantic holiday where some pampering is at the top of your priorities list, the small fee to use the sun loungers and facilities in this private space is more than worth it. Here you'll find the adults-only pool, the spa, and a great selection of therapies which can be enjoyed al fresco in this serene location.
The highlight of the day had to be the lunch. Where many modern ships have gone down the path of multi-tiered, open restaurants, Princess Cruises have decided to break their main dining room into three elegant and intimate restaurants. We were served a fantastic three course meal in the Botticelli Dining Room, with a choice of farfalle pasta or a crayfish salad starter, beef tenderloin or baked trout for main, and a chocolate custard souffle for dessert.
After our delicious meal, we head to the main theatre for a presentation about all things Princess Cruises, including an introduction to their fantastic OceanMedallion technology;
Testimonials
Find out what our team thought of their day onboard:
Sam, Graphic Designer: Crown Princess was a ship which certainly subverted all expectations. There is a great choice in bars and lounges providing something for everyone; the Wheelhouse Bar was especially atmospheric as the ship's sociable British-style pub.
Kate, Direct Marketing Team Leader: After spending the day onboard Crown Princess, I came away thinking that she is a lovely ship with a lot of modern amenities such as the introduction of OceanMedallion features. The food was great and the cabins were spacious and bright.
Joe, Video Content Executive: I really enjoyed our day on Crown Princess, we had a comprehensive tour of the cabins, restaurants, and other facilities, as well as getting to try out their main restaurant cuisine(the Chateaubriand was delicious!). We got treated to a little taster of their entertainment in the lobby too which was enjoyable, the performers made the day a bit more fun and helped us experience a bit more of what a passenger would.
