What was your first impression of MSC World Europa?
The ship is huge and packed full of exciting things to do. On our first morning, we went on the waterslides, went roller-skating, and got stuck into the buffet for lunch.
What destinations did you visit during your cruise?
During our weeklong itinerary, we visited Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Naples, Messina, and Malta.
Who would you recommend this ship to?
We went on a multi-generation trip with ages ranging from 1 to 75. I think anyone would find things they like about this cruise.
Did you have a chance to see multiple cabin types? What were they like, and what’s one insider tip you’d like to share?
I only got to see the Aurea Balcony, as that was the cabin we had. I saw it set up for 2 and for 4 people. The bunk bed (converted sofa) was perfect for kids, as it is a full-length single bed.
Did your accommodation have enough storage space for a full 7-night cruise?
Amazingly yes! We unpacked our cases into the wardrobe and still had space to spare. We used the under-bed storage for the cases and rucksacks to keep them out of the way.
How was the noise inside your accommodation? Are there any areas you advise avoiding for those selecting their own cabin?
We were near the lifts on deck 16, but easily far enough away to avoid noise from people using them. Due to the size of the ship, I think any balcony rooms would be free of lift noise. We were opposite a crew-only area and noticed some trolley noise as they moved luggage around. I would book a little bit further down the corridor another time.
If you could only eat in one complimentary restaurant for the whole trip, which one would you choose, and what’s one must-try dish you recommend?
Bubbles – we had anytime dining, and this was our assigned restaurant. Our waiter was wonderful, so friendly and creative – he did magic tricks and made things out of napkins to entertain the kids. The food was good. I'm a vegetarian and always had good things to choose from. The Malaga ice cream was probably my favourite dessert.
What about the speciality dining on MSC World Europa?
We didn't try the speciality dining. We already had 2x buffets, Bubbles, and the pizza restaurant to choose from. My brother's family went to Hola Tacos, and they had a great time. We went to the coffee bar every day; it was included in our drinks package and we loved trying all the fancy options.
If you had a drinks package, would you recommend it?
Yes, absolutely.

What was the most surprising or under-the-radar activity that a first-time cruiser would miss?
The theme nights are shown as suggestions in the app, but we kept missing them. On 'white night' we went and changed as we felt like the only guests on the ship wearing colourful clothes!
What was the vibe of the pool deck onboard?
It had a lively party atmosphere throughout the cruise.
Did you check out the kids’ facilities available onboard? What were the highlights?
The kids didn't want to go to the clubs, but they used the child-friendly facilities like the water slides a lot.
Which destination was the biggest surprise, and why?
Marseille because it was so friendly! All of the shopkeepers we met in Le Panier were lovely.
For those who prefer to explore independently, what’s the best thing to do within walking distance of the dock at your favourite destination?
Head to Le Panier in Marseille for street art and cool shops.
What was disembarking like?
It was easy to disembark. We never queued for more than 5 minutes at any port.
Compared to other cruise experiences, what makes this one stand out? Where could it improve?
It has so many facilities that nobody could ever get bored. It could do with more quiet zones – we found the tea house, but found loud music pretty much everywhere else we went.

What’s one bit of advice you would give someone booking this exact cruise that they won’t find in a brochure?
Don't take beach towels — you can use the ones you are given on the ship.
What's your one-sentence summary of your experience?
Don't be intimidated by the size of the ship – it just means there is loads to do for everyone.
