If you’re browsing Iglu Cruise’s latest cruise deals and wondering what it’s like to embark on a cruise along the Italian coastline, you should check out this cruise review from Vanesa, Iglu Cruise’s Customer Care Executive. Recently, she visited Genoa and Naples with Costa Cruises, spending several nights aboard Costa Toscana. Below, she's shared her expert opinion on this stunning experience and insider tips worth keeping in mind when you embark on an adventure like this yourself.

About Vanesa: I’m someone who loves staying active and exploring the world around me. Travelling is one of my biggest passions because I enjoy discovering new places, cultures, and experiences. I’m also a huge animal lover and always enjoy spending time around animals whenever I can. Going to the gym is another important part of my routine as it helps me stay healthy, motivated, and energized in my everyday life.

What was your first impression of Costa Toscana?

The ship was absolutely stunning, very modern and well-kept, with plenty of seating areas for dinner and drinks.

Costa Toscana

Who would you recommend this ship to?

I definitely recommend this ship to families and couples. It is very modern with amazing shows and great live music.

Did you have a chance to see multiple cabin types? What were they like, and what’s one insider tip you’d like to share?

I stayed in the balcony cabin. It was very spacious and very modern inside.

Did your accommodation have enough storage space for a full 7-night cruise?

Definitely lots of storage space inside, the cabin was much bigger than anticipated.

How was the noise inside your accommodation? Are there any areas you advise avoiding for those selecting their own cabin?

Barely heard any noise at all throughout the trip; we were located on deck 10, midship.

If you could only eat in one complimentary restaurant for the whole trip, which one would you choose, and what’s one must-try dish you recommend?

I definitely loved the pancake parlour, and the ice cream parlour!

What about the speciality dining on Costa Toscana?

We did not try any speciality dining restaurants.

If you had a drinks package, would you recommend it?

Yes, and yes.

What was the most surprising or under-the-radar activity that a first-time cruiser would miss?

The live music was absolutely fantastic!

What was the vibe of the pool deck onboard?

Balanced/Family-friendly.

La Spiaggia Beach Club

Did you check out the kids’ facilities available onboard? What were the highlights?

I wasn't able to check out any of the cruise ship's facilities specifically aimed at younger cruisers.

Which destination was the biggest surprise, and why?

Absolutely loved Barcelona, so much to do and will definitely be going back for a longer stay.

For those who prefer to explore independently, what’s the best thing to do within walking distance of the dock at your favourite destination?

Naples was very close to the port to the city centre, and easy to get around with plenty of buses going into the city.

What was disembarking like?

As the ship was very large, disembarking and embarking did take longer than expected.

Compared to other cruise experiences, what makes this one stand out? Where could it improve?

It could definitely improve in sorting out the flow of people coming in and out of the ship. We did have to queue for up to 30 minutes sometimes.

What's your one-sentence summary of your experience?

Really enjoyed my time on the Costa Toscana cruise ship; the experience was very good, and I had a wonderful time during the trip.

How do you rate your experience on Costa Toscana?

0/10
